Juncker re-elected as Eurozone President
Jean-Claude Juncker, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, has been re-elected as President of the 16-member bloc of EU states that use the euro currency. The vote was unanimous, and Junker will continue to lead the monthly meetings of the 16 states, which take place in tandem with the ECB and European Commission and discuss economic policy, for the next two-and-a-half years.

Although it was previously an informal configuration, the Lisbon Treaty gives legal status to the group of euro area finance ministers, setting it the goal of "ever closer coordination of economic policies within the euro area."

Junker also looks after the Treasury in his home country.

Juncker became Luxembourg’s Prime Minister in 1995. He has served two six-month terms as President of the European Council, in 1997 and 2005.
