Markus Ferber from Germany won the award for his achievements in leading the investigation on the alleged Strasbourg European parliament building fraud. He expressed his surprise that his colleagues had voted for him since he had received criticism from both the supporters of the one-seat campaign for the Parliament as well as those who are in favour of keeping the status quo.
