Rt. Hon. & Rt. Rev. Dr. Richard Chartres, Bishop of London, Church of England, stressed the importance of religious education and the committment of the churches to building on the campaign to "Make Poverty History". He also discussed the need for European churches to address climate change, and above all the the attention that should be given to transforming words into action.

The Conference of European Churches held a conference in Brussels on the 12th and 13 of December. The theme of the conference was "Values-Religion-Identity", and the leaders aim was to agree on an open letter to European political leaders. The open letter shares the concerns and hopes of European churches for the future of Europe and their role within it.
