In the fall of 2008, the worst economic downturn since the 1930s was a fact. For the European Union, the consequences have been sluggish growth and increased unemployment. How will the crisis impact the furthering of the European integration? Various industries, such as the financial and automotive industries, have been subject to large stimulative packages which have increased public deficit in several countries to levels not seen since the 1930s.
Will we see a weaker Europe or will Europe go strengthened from this crisis? Has the euro been a life west or a drag during the crisis? What role will the EU play on the global economic and political arena of tomorrow? The seminar will deal with these and similar issues from a broad range of perspectives, illustrated by the 13th anthology ”European Perspectives” by the The Swedish Network for European Studies.
