The focus of the conference will be on citizen journalism und the question of how the new media helps underrepresented communities raise their voices. We will discuss the development towards a participatory journalism that produces news by mixing users' contributions with professional journalists' skills - and we will explore ways of how the traditional media and citizen journalists can collaborate. Leading journalists and media experts from Asia, Africa, the United States of America and Germany will contribute to the debate, sharing their experience with regard to the media situation both in the developed and in developing world.
